- Info Hermit crab (Dardanus calidus) with 3 sea anemones (Calliactis parasitica) on its back, Cape Palos, Spain. This species of crab can grow to a length of 12 centimetres (4.7 in) and it uses either large gastropod shells, such as those of Tonna galea and Charonia, which it often decorates with one or more sea anemones of the species Calliactis parasitica. The relationship between the sea anemone and the hermit crab is mutualistic: the sea anemone protects the hermit crab with its stings, and benefits from the food thrown up by the hermit crab's movements. Dardanus calidus is a scavenger, feeding on decaying matter from the sea bed. It has been collected from depths greater than 100 metres (330 ft), but is more typically found in shallower water, and it's spread from the East Atlantic (Portugal to Senegal) and Mediterranean Sea. Note: the shots were taken during a night dive since hermit crab are mostly active then. c/u/n by Poco a poco (talk) 07:34, 5 June 2023 (UTC)

- Oppose I don't feel like this meets the criteria for a set nomination; the technical shortcomings may be overpowered by significant wow factor, but I don't see the big whoop on the image to the left. The one on the right has more wow due to the angle/composition, where the crab is facing you. In short, the image on the right might be an FP, but I feel that the left is definitely not.--Peulle (talk) 08:02, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- I don't understand your feedback, Peulle. We have had several sets in the last months with big support where you could see animals (ej. here or here) from 2 angles, I'm doing the same and believe that in this case the front and lateral views are the most illustrative. So, I proposed this set like this because to me it looks like it is a consolidated practice. Poco a poco (talk) 10:21, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- It's just my opinion that the left image is not FP due to technical shortcomings that are not compensated by wow factor. Therefore the set fails, in my opinion, because all images of a set have to succeed.--Peulle (talk) 11:11, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- Ok, sorry, thanks for the clarification, I got you wrong and though that the set itself was an issue for you. Let's see though how it goes. Poco a poco (talk) 14:39, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- Question Does the crab actually place the anemones on the shell? Charlesjsharp (talk) 09:31, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- I'm not a biologist, Charlesjsharp, but if you google a bit (good source here) you can read that it is actually like that, the crab is the one in lead, chooses the anemones and arranges them on the shell. Poco a poco (talk) 10:21, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks, that's cool. Charlesjsharp (talk) 11:53, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- Indeed, look at this. Poco a poco (talk) 14:49, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- Support I am not 100% sure about the set criteria in this case but both photos are impressive (and in doubt I would prefer the left one, it has better light and appears more 3-dimensional). --Aristeas (talk) 07:52, 6 June 2023 (UTC)

- Oppose left one has better light, but also lack of sharpness. -- Ivar (talk) 15:46, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
- Comment I would tend to oppose per Peulle and Ivar because of the photo on the left, but the fact that this is a small hermit crab rather than a bigger crab gives me pause, which is why this is a comment without a vote. I would support a separate nomination of the photo on the right, though. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:50, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
- Comment The one on the right is a much better photo. Charlesjsharp (talk) 09:14, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
