Comment Hello, and welcome to VIC, 4nn1l2! You should link to the most appropriate Commons category. Also, this is a map and should be identified as a map in your scope. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:31, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Thanks. It's a useful map, but some of the transliterations are unusual. For example, I nearly always see the spelling "Azerbaijan" (the only other spelling I've sometimes seen is "Azerbaidzhan"). I've also seen Khuzestan, rather than Khoozestan and Baluchistan or Baluchestan, rather than Baloochestan. What's your feeling about the Romanized names? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 12:17, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have used the transliterations by the Ministry of Interior which can be found on the official English translation of the report (1st general census in Iran). Please see here. I can change them to whatever a native speaker of English feels better about. Azerbaijan, Balochistan, etc are historical regions shared by several countries, and each country spells it whatever it desires. They are all correct. Since there is a sovereign state called Republic of Azerbaijan, the transliteration of Azerbaijan is probably more familiar to an English native speaker. A Farsi speaker says Âzarbây(e)jân (â: like father; a: like bad). As I said before, I'm okay with changing them if necessary. 4nn1l2 (talk) 12:53, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
