English: Staff Sgt. Richard Dupuy, enlisted leader in charge of the Sniper Section, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment “Desert Rogues,” 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, assess the terrain ahead of him as both his Soldiers and snipers with the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment change into their sniper gear during an exportable combat training center (XCTC) training event located at Camp Shelby, Miss., June 9. At Camp Shelby, the Rogues will act as the opposing force in support of the 278th ACR, a National Guard unit headquartered in Knoxville, Tenn. This event is of great significance in that it is the first time a battalion from the Regular Army has acted as OPFOR for a reserve component unit since this practice was stopped after 9/11 due to the Regular Army’s high rate of deployment. Not only does it signify that the Army is getting back to the way it used to be before the conflicts, but it also signifies a large step toward embracing the Total Army Concept.
