PHOTOGRAPH BY A.FORDER PHAROAHS TREASURY, THE MASTERPIECE OF EDOM This temple is cut from the rock, which is of rose-pink color. It is over eighty feet high,and more than two thousand years old. It contains three chambers, one thirty-five feetsquare, and two twenty-five feet square. Its sheltered position has preserved the elegantcarving from destruction by the weather. The Arabs call this temple the treasury ofPharoah. No one knows for what purpose this elaborate excavation was used.
