Title
?Awl, ?Roman
Description
English: Copper alloy ?awl 78mm long and slightly S-shaped in profile. At no point does the object appear to be circular in section.

At its midpoint it is rather more rectangular with rounded edges. From this point the object continues in the same vein until c.10mm from the end where the object thins and the edges become more angular. The object swells slightly before tapering to a flatish point.
In the other direction from the mid-point, the section becomes more square and angular, eventually thinning c.15mm from the end to a flat and rectangular 2x1mm finish. Measurements at mid-section, 3x2.5mm.

The patina is dark green and slightly pocked. Dates to antiquity, ?Roman, ??Bronze Age.
