Title
?medieval tap key
Description
English: ?Medieval fragment of copper alloy tap key, having six sides in section (though not all of equal length), broken at one end and finishing at the other in a semi-circular foot. At the widest point -the break- it measures 12x10mm and over a curving length of 22mm narrows to 5.5x4mm. The foot projects 'outwards' (ie. in the same direction as the curve) and measures 6mm long by 4.5mm wide.
Two of the six sides are shorter in section than the other four. One of these runs at the centre of the bow where the curve is outermost and the other directly behind it, where the curve is innermost. A section of that at the outermost has been ?filed/ ?worn flat.
Weighs 9.70g. Total length of fragment 25mm.
