Vatican, on voit le Sauveur jeune assis entre deux anges, au-dessous l'Épiphanie.
Au musée Kircher, deux fragments de sarcophages sont
à remarquer : l'un, qui porte des traces de dorure, représente
le Sermon sur la montagne ; — l'autre, la scène du repas
d'Emmaiüs, rare dans la sculpture chrétienne. Dans la collection particulière de J.-B. de Rossi, on voit sur

RELIQUAIRE DE BRESCIA.

un sarcophage du IVe siècle le navire symbolique de l'Église
dirigé par Notre-Seigneur et les Évangélistes.
En dehors de Rome, on peut noter le célèbre sarcophage
de Salona, aujourd'hui au musée de Spalato. Il est du
IVe siècle. Il représente le bon Pasteur au milieu de brebis,
et à ses côtés deux époux entourés d'une multitude d'enfants.
On attribue ce sarcophage à une certaine Domitia Asclepias.
A Ravenne, on trouve des sarcophages à figures même au
VIe siècle, par exemple dans l'église de St-Apollinaire. —
