Description
English: A cast, copper alloy, rectangular shoe buckle, probably c. 1690-1720, though it may be later. The frame is drilled for a separate spindle which is missing, as is the pin and plate. The frame is slightly curved and is without decoration. The buckle has a dark green patina. It is 29.2mm long, 24mm wide and 3.1mm thick. It weighs 4.37gm. Reference: Whitehead, Buckles 1250-1800, p.103, No.661.
