NRW-Klimaschutzminister Johannes Remmel besuchte mit einer Delegation der EnergieAgentur.NRW auf der 17. Station seiner Initiative "ZukunftsEnergienNRW: Orte der Energiezukunft“ Malzers Backstube in Gelsenkirchen. Die Handwerks-Bäckerei mit ihren 145 Filialen und 2000 Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter, die bereits mehrfach für ihre unternehmerische Verantwortung ausgezeichnet wurde, agiert auch in Sachen Klimaschutz vorbildlich. Das Unternehmen deckt drei Viertel des Strombedarfs durch ein BHKW sowie eine 7.000 qm große Photovoltaik-Anlage mit 1.340 Modulen. Das Energiekonzept umfasst zudem Wärmetauscher zu Dampf- und Heißwassererzeugung sowie eine Absorptionskälteanlage zur Kälteerzeugung für das Kühlhaus. Die Abwärme wird für Dampf, Heizung, Warmwasser und Kälteerzeugung genutzt. Die KWK-Anlage erreicht einen Wirkungsgrad von über 80 Prozent.
