Title |
196947. Late Neolithic to Early Bronze age: Flint waste flake(core rejuvenation flake) |
||
Description |
English: A flint waste flake. Mid brown flint with large pale grey patches and a high gloss patina. There is a small area of off-white nodule cortex at the distal end. There is a small striking platform at the proximal end and a small bulb of percussion with a bulbar scar on the ventral face.The dorsal face is heavily worked with numerous small, elongate flaking scars from the production of bladelets. the scars have marked waves of percussion. There is some irregular loss at the proximal end of the dorsal face and this, together with the fact that the flake is quite thick, suggest this is a core rejuvenation flake taken off the refress the surface of the nodule to allow for more fine flakes to be removed.
