English: BURNHAM HOARD 2010 T509: Item A.6 Socketed Axe; South Eastern - Faceted (Petters class D)

Incomplete cast copper alloy socketed axehead. The mouth is damaged (it does not show signs of wear. The side loop begins immediately after the break. The casting seams on the side of the axe have been smoothed. The axe has a shallow octagonal cross section, due to the faceted edges on the front and back face. Some damage to the cutting edge.

Length: 93.73mm. Weight: 116.42grams. Loop: 21.47mm long, 4.79mm wide. Body: 31.51mm wide by 14.17mm thick. Cutting edge: 45.69mm.
