Title
2010 T262 undiagnostic gold fragment
Description
English: Treasure Case: 2010 T262 Colchester District, Essex: Undiagnostic gold fragment

Date of Discovery: 6th April 2010

Circumstances of discovery: Whilst searching with a metal detector

Date: Unknown

Description: Small undiagnostic fragment of gold. It is 'D' shaped in plan, with the flat edge being a break. It is 7.98mm long, 6.94mm wide, 2.11mm thick and weighs 0.97 grams.

Discussion: Athough the object has over 10% precious metal content by weight, the undiagnostic nature of the artefact means that it cannot be be assigned to a chronological or cultural context. The object does not definitively dated pre1710 and as such does not qualify as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act (1996) in terms of age.

Disposition: Not Treasure
