Title
2010 T645 Post-Medieval silver-gilt dress hook from Urchfont, Wiltshire
Description
English: A 16th century silver-gilt dress hook; the backplate is trefoilate in shape, with three hemispherical bosses within each lobe. Between each boss is a smaller knop, and a knop is placed at the centre of the item. The outer edge of the plate is decorated with applied filigree ornament and the plate itself is scalloped around the edge. The recurving hook tapers to a point, and is attached to the reverse of the plate by solder. Traces of two points of solder suggest that an attachment loop was also soldered to the reverse.
