2012T410 Post Medieval Silver Thimble
Description
English: Description: A thimble made of sheet silver, dating to the 17th century AD. Badly damaged/ crushed and split down the length of the wall. The crown is missing. At the base of the thimble, creating a border around the circumference is a plain band, followed by a rope like decoration which borders both sides of a thick plain band. Within the band are the initials 'CT', which have been stippled/ punched out. The body of the thimble is decorated with regular circular indentations.

Dimensions: Length: 21.7 mm, Width: 23.35 mm, Thickness: 1 mm, Weight: 2.62 g

Discussion: This thimble can be compared to other thimbles found in Essex (2011 T797; PAS no. ESS-BABC91) and Surrey (2011 T391; PAS no. SUR-AF6834)
