English: Senior leaders and special staff from across the 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade (BfSB) held their Leadership Professional Development immersed in the rich history and scenery of Montana, at the site of the Battle of Little Bighorn. Over the course of two days eight teams trekked the hallowed battlefield grounds and extensively studied the dynamics of military strategy, major personalities, and key events that were all influential factors in greatest battle of the 1876 Sioux Wars. Accompanied by guides and staff members from the US Cavalry school, the participants of Operation Little Bighorn traveled across all points of interests in the great battle. From the Crow's Nest to Weir Point, from Medicine Tail Coulee to Custer's Last Stand Hill, and everything in between. All that were there gleaned valuable knowledge and insights on how studying the past can improve our successes in the future. Additionally, Operation Little Bighorn provided unique opportunities to truly get the full frontiersman experience of firing replica weapons such as a riding bow, a .45 caliber revolver, and a trapdoor carbine. Participants also got training on river-crossing, horseback riding, and river-crossing while on horseback. |
