Description |
English: Copper alloy fragment length 32mm, width 28mm, thickness 4mm, weight 15.99g. Cast plate the outside face has a series of curvilinear ridges covering the surface ranging in thickness from 7-3mm. The top edge of these ridges are smooth with a line running down either side, the recessed are rough and have traces of blue enamel in one of the cells. The reverse is plain
Although it is impossible to tell what sort of artefacts this fragment has come from the artwork and style of manufacturing is comparable to that found on the Staffordshire Moorlands Pan with also has deep cells filled with enamel in a variety of colours. There a possible date of 2nd century is suggested. |
