Title |
626 Plate.jpg |
||
Description |
English: Copper alloy sheet plate, length 35mm, width 10mm, thickness >1mm. The artefact is rectangular in plan, there is a single incised line running down the length on either side with a series of parallel angled lines running down the edge, creating a rope style image down both of the long edges. The reverse is plain. The artefact is in a fair condition, although the surface is pitted with corrosion, much of the original patina remaining. The artefact is broken at both of the short ends, therefore the nature of the object is uncertain. Nevertheless, it is likely that this is a fragment of a strap fitting, probably a strap end or a buckle plate. The possibly dating to the Medieval Period. |
