Description
English: Medieval copper alloy key, 58mm long, 25mm wide and 7mm in diameter. The key weighs 13.9grams and has a green patina with some original brown surface remaining. The mechanism is oblong, 8x9mm, and has one cut out in the inner surface nearest the shaft with a small notch in the opposite side. The shaft is 44mm long and has a circular, hollow shaft. The shaft terminates with a decorated collar of two raised circular ridges with two recessed ridges in between. The handle is incomplete but decorative and is made up of two arches protruding from a circular plate. resting on the two arches are the remains of two circles which have broken (th e finished key probably had three linked circles)
