Title |
A08D25 post med? buckle |
||
Description |
English: Post Medieval? copper alloy buckle, 31mm long, 17mm wide and 2mm thick. The buckle is fragmentary and unusual. It has a brown/green patina with a large iron stain. It consists of a frame with a circular section which has two areas of decoration. The first is in the centre of its longest surviving side and consists of three rounded 'beads' which protrude slightly. The inner one is decorated with a ring and dot motif and a hole and iron stain are present on the inner surface, representing the pin hole. The buckle has rounded corners with one side mostly missing, the other side being more complete. This has two 'beads', the ring and dot motif is on the first one and may have been repeated on a third? I cannot locate a parallel for this, but given its shape I would think it is post med in date?? |
