Title
AWL
Description
English: This awl has been made on a flake of dark grey flint with lighter grey inclusions, probably derived from a local beach pebble.

The dorsal face has some retouch at the proximal end to create a sharp point. The ventral face has blunting retouch on the left margin to create a finger hold. There is gloss visible at the distal end of the ventral face.

Bond 2004 illustrates a similar awl on Page 135 Fig 5.121 F56, which he places in the Neolithic period. Mercer (81) has a similar piece illustrated on Page 137 Fig 60 L157, which is from a site dated to the early Neolithic.
