Title
AWL
Description
English: There is minimal retouch at the point on the apex of this piece, which resembles an isosceles triangle with a curved base. The secondary cortex is red tinged which suggests that the piece ha sbeen heated. The retained cortex would protect the hand, being opposite to the pressure point.

The flint is clerical grey with white flecks. It has secondary cortex, which suggests its origin as a local beach pebble.

Butler illustrates an awl on Page 129 Fig 54 No 1, which he dates to the Neolithic period .
