Title
A Medieval - Post Medieval copper alloy incomplete buckle (15th – 16th century).
Description
English: A Medieval - Post Medieval copper alloy incomplete buckle (15th – 16th century). This is a double-looped buckle with a separate iron cross-bar that is no longer present, the pin is also missing. The frame has been elaborately cast with round ends moulded with a pin notch and a groove around the edges. The sides are concave each with triple reel-like moulding.

Dimensions: length: 37.16mm; width: 22.98mm; thickness: 2.75mm; weight: 7.85g.

A very similar example illustrated in Griffiths, Philpott & Egan (2007: 96,99 no 647 pl 16), the only difference is the Meols example has beading around the edges instead of the grooves on this example. The Meols buckle was dated to the 15th – 16th century.
