Title |
A Medieval copper alloy rotary casket key (late 12th-late 14th century). |
||
Description |
English: A Medieval copper alloy rotary casket key (late 12th-late 14th century). The key has a circular bow, hollow stem and simple bit. The bit has symmetrical rectangular clefts which are very worn. It is very similar to No. 294 that is dated from the late 12th to late 14th century (Egan 1998: pp. 111-112). The key is broken across the bow and there is some wear to the open end.
