A Medieval to Post-Medieval buckle
Description
English: A Medieval to Post-Medieval rectangular copper alloy buckle with a rounded knop at each corner of the frame; there is a bifid knop at the outer edge of each side of the frame, with a single knop at either end of the strap bar. The pin is missing. The buckle is engraved on the obverse with a single line, which extends around each knop. The buckle is greenish-brown in colour. Parallels, which can be dated to between c1600 to 1700, can be found in Whitehead, R., 1996. Buckles. 1250-1800. Chelmsford: Greenlight Publishing. Page 79, No.488; Page 83, No.522.
