Title |
A Post Medieval copper alloy Buckle Chape |
||
Description |
English: A Post Medieval copper alloy buckle chape dating to c 1660-1720. The chape is heart shaped with a circular perforation at the narrow end. This perforation would have help and up standing stud, which would have attached the chape to a shoe. This is now missing. The top of the chape is formed by two tubular hollow knops. This would have held a bar which would have attached the tongue of the buckle (Whitehead 1996, p96). The chape is 32.4mm long, 18.1mm wide, 2.9mm thick and weighs 3.2. |
