English: A USAF Hospital in Japan--Capt Lyle B. Bordeaux (right), Bowling Green, OH, USAF B-29 pilot, receives the Silver Star, and the Purple Heart, from Brig Gen Joe W. Kelly, FEAF Bomber Command Chief, plus congratulations for a job well done. He was cited for gallantry in action during a "Superfort" attack on a Communist airfield in North Korea, when his bomber was crippled by enemy flak and then attacked by MiG-15s. His skillful airmanship resulted in the rescue of all 12 crewmen.
