Title
A cast copper alloy Medieval key
Description
English: An incomplete iron cast key, possibly Medieval in date. The bow has an old break, leaving two remaining vertical projections, and two horizontal projections, which would have made the bottom portion of a circular design. The shaft, which is oval in section, has three separate collars, with one immediately below the bow, and two more 1.88 mm further down. The bit is rectangular with two horizontal teeth; it contracts from the shaft, and then expands to a subrectanglar end. The base of the shaft is hollow, although the depth of this is unknown as it is filled. It measures 21.92 mm L x 11.73 mm W x 4.25 mm DIA (of the shaft) x 2.98 mm TH (at the bit) and weighs 2.76 g.

A similar key can be seen on the database BUC-B218E2.
