English: Staff Sgt. Diana Meredith, native of Bainbridge, Ga., and the soldiers of the 1230th Transportation Company, “Road Dawgs,” are practicing convoy tactics, techniques and procedures in preparation for the following day’s mission, Oct. 12, 2013, Camp Marmal, Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan.
Meredith is one of 25 female Soldiers in the unit who actively drive the vehicles, and over a third of the female team members are qualified on at least one crew served weapon. She serves the unit as a company truck driver, finance analyst, and, administrative assistant. For deployment duties, Meredith is an operations noncommissioned officer in charge, as the operations officer she is mission manager. Managing missions entail paperwork, tracking miles; managing load plans, which driver is picking up the loads, and according to Meredith, whatever else may needed to be done to support a mission. The 1230th TC is deployed in support of the 524th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, Commanded by, Lt. Col. James M. Droppleman, Regional Command North, Afghanistan.
