Author
Van de Velde?, Willem, the Younger (artist)
Description
English: A galjoot in a light breeze

A lightly handled view of a galjoot (a type of small Dutch coastal vessel) seen from the starboard bow. Another, similar vessel is visible behind. The drawing belongs to a group of compositional studies that combine pencil drawing with a loose, light wash. However, Robinson regarded the attribution to Van de Velde, the Younger, as tentative.

The drawing is inscribed: ‘W.V.V J’.
