He always shows that he knows exceedinglywell what he was undertaking. In painting his groups of flowers andstriking bits of still life, he presents his subjects with ardor and vivac-ity, with grace and elegance, with precision of knowledge, and with ahigh order of intelligence. This work is in every way technicallyadmirable and one of his best.
