t was decided to accede to thewishes of the petitioners. The meeting was held onFebruary second, and a motion made to proceed tothe election of a pastor. Mr. William Ivins pre-sented a letter, signed by all the Session, pleadingagainst haste in this matter, and begging that thechoice of names to be presented to the congregation beleft to a committee of nine, three from the Session,three from the trustees, and three from the congrega-tion, to be chosen by the respective bodies. There wereevenly divided councils, and the meeting adjourned toFebruary fourteenth without taking any action. Atthe second meeting, the motion to elect a pastor waswithdrawn, and the suggestion of the elders adopted.The committee was composed of John C. Farr, JohnElliott, and William Ivins, on the part of the Session;James Campbell, Rudolph M. Schick, and Philip H.Strubing (secretary), on the part of the trustees; andRandall T. Hazzard, James D. Meguire, and WilliamNotson, M. D., on the part of the congregation.
