Vaso antico di gran mole che si vede nella villa dell'ecc.ma casa Lanti sul monte Gianicolo ... Il piede che al presente lo regge è di porfido e non corrisponde all proporzione del vaso ... Cavalier Piranesi delin. ed inc. Note Plate to: G.B. Piranesi, Vasi, candelabri, cippi, sarcofagi, tripodi, lucerne ed ornamenti, 1768-1778 Credits Dedicatee "Guglielmo Vyse": possibly Sir William Guise, 5th Baronet, of Elmore Court, Gloucestershire. He accompanied Edward Gibbon on their visit to Rome. His portrait was painted by Allan Ramsay in 1761 (A. Smart, Allan Ramsay, London 1999, no. 220; sold at Sotheby's, London, 2010(?))
