Description
English: A complete penny of Henry VIII's first coinage (1509-1526).

The obverse depicts a forward facing, enthroned figure hold a sceptre and an orb. The legend starts at the 1 o'clock position and reads HENRIC DI GRA REX AGL Z. The initial mark is a lis and there are crosses between each word of the legend.

The reverse depicts a shield which is quartered by a long cross which also cuts through the legend. The legend reads CIVI/TAS/DUR/RAM. There are two letters on top of the shield, a T to the left of the cross and a D to the right of the cross indicating Bishop Thomas Ruthall of Durham.

The North Number is 1776.
