Description
English: A post medieval, cast copper alloy button, dating from AD1550-1650. It is plano convex, solid and cast in one piece. It has a flat shaft, narrowest at the point where it meets the rest of the button, pierced with a circular hole. The button has a dark grey patina. Similar examples are illustrated in Bailey, Buttons and Fasteners 500BC - AD1840 , page 29, numbers 7.31 to 7.41.
