a post medieval double loop buckle
Description
English: A complete cast copper alloy Post-Medieval buckle frame dating from about 1600-1720. The buckle frame is sub oval in plan and double looped. It has rounded ends and bi-concave sides. It is otherwise undecorated. Examples of similar buckles may be found in Whitehead (page 70, numbers 440 and 441). The pin is missing. The spindle is iron and the plate is attached; it is sub triangular and very thick, but the knop at the end is missing.
