The powder, so prepared, is the state in which the clayis ready for being moulded into the form of the intended article by the new process. The lower end ofthe screw f is connected with a square vertical slider, h, which is fitted into a socket, i,fixed to the upiiglit part D of the frame, and the slider ii is thereby confined to move upor down, with an exactly vertical motion, when it is actuated by the screw, without devia-tion from the vertical.
