Our Indiansin Half an Hour erected a House capable of shel-tering 1 The lake at Richfield Springs, afterwards called Schuylers Lake, fromDavid Schuyler, to whom a patent of land in those parts was granted in1755. In recent years the Indian name has been restored, the acceptedspelling being Canadurango. 2 John C. Hartwicks tract is now a township, bearing Hartwicks name. 3 By this the author means that they reached the upper waters of the creek,not the point where it enters the Susquehanna. 38
