ART GALLERY SUTRO BATHS of finance, that he has been christened by a wagnot wholly witless, the Czar of the Scavengers. In the winter of 93, when great suffering pre-vailed among the indigent unemployed of SanFrancisco, Mr. Sutro purchased tickets from theSalvation Army to the value of eight hundred dol-lars, as occasion required, which were distributed,upon application, and secured to their holders aleast temporary relief. His contributions to all public charity, since hisarrival to opulence, have been munificent, and con-fined neither to race, creed nor class. His privatealms are said to be limited only to the immediateneeds of the individual.
