English: Students parading an effigy of Sir Walter Raleigh on the Embankment, left to right: William Ewart Green (LSE 1919-1922), Price (behind), Stanley Herbert Cair (LSE 1919-22), Castell, William Willis (LSE 1919-22), ?, George Grant Mackenzie

(LSE1919-1923)

' King George V laid another foundation stone and the buildings crept round to Houghton Street. To complete the ceremony the students captured a tobacconist’s effigy of Sir Walter Raleigh, which had some resemblance to the King, and conferred upon it appropriate degrees.'
