Agan
This extraordinary lusus naturae (Q1313225) is a stout active young Chinese husbandman, who, nothwithstanding the encumbrance of his parasitic brother, is able to follow his laborious occupation. An attempt was made and continued for five years to remove the inconvenient exrescence by means of a ligature, but the health of Agan was so much injured there by that the design was abandoned. The connexion existing between them is also shewn by various other circumstances to be of the most intimate kind for every sensation of pain, such as the sting of a musqueto &o inflicted on the parasite is instantly felt by Agan. The above representation of this singular phenomenon (for a detailed account of which see Dr. Brewster's and Professor Jameson's Edinburgh Philosopical Journal) is taken from a cast in the possession of John Harrison Curtis Esq. Aurist to His Majesty by whom it was kindly communicated to the Artist.
