English: An English ship before the wind

A starboard broadside view of a ship before the wind under courses and topsails. In the right background, there is a ship close-hauled on the starboard tack.

This is a pencil and wash drawing by the Younger, with the false signature ‘W V V’. It is inscribed with an ‘L’ (light) in the main topsail.
