Title
Anglo-Saxon copper alloy sleeve clasp
Description
English: Copper-alloy wrist-clasp of Hines’s Form B12. It consists of a rectangular bar divided into five sections. There are three square undecorated panels with a neatly ribbed section between each them. The ribs are tightly arranged and form a rectangular panel which is D-shaped in cross-section. There is an integral loop extending from each square panel, and a small rivet hole at the opposite end of the central square panel. On the reverse of this panel there is the remains of a copper alloy rivet fixing a seperate incomplete copper alloy plate to the underside of the clasp. Early Anglo-Saxon, late fifth or sixth century AD.
