Title
Anglo-Saxon sleeve clasp
Description
English: Hook-piece from a copper-alloy wrist-clasp, probably of Hines's Form B20 (plate and bar cast in one piece, with shaped rear edge). There is little distinction between the plate and the bar, but the front edge has three longitudinal lines separating it into three bands, and the plate has three triangular projections on the rear edge. There are two circular sewing holes, one at each junction between the triangular projections (so possibly this clasp-half is a candidate for Form B18). The triangular projections are covered with small square punch-marks, and each of the bands making up the bar has a single longitudinal row of the same punch-marks. The centre of the front edge has a hook on the reverse. Of similar design to LIN-9089F4. Early Anglo-Saxon, late 5th or 6th century.
