Anglo-Saxon vessel fragment
Description
English: Ceramic sherd from an early Anglo-Saxon cremation urn. The sherd is a grit tempered dark brown/black fabric. The exterior is decorated two groups of incised channelling, seperated by two rows of motifs. The first row of motifs comprises double V-shape, set one inside the other resembling a birds foot impression. Only one of these is visible. The second row of motifs comprises an impressed circle divided into four wedges and two rectangles. There are three of these motifs visible.

There is a whitish-cream concreation on the interior, probably representing the cremation.

Note: The object is likely to have been the other way round originally on the vessel body.
