RANUNCULUS. The main soil for these should be a loam or clay with a good dressing of rotten manure and leaf mold, and if heavy a little sand. To have them in perfection the soil should be well drained, cool. deep. rich, and moist. Plant late in the Autumn, claws do-miward, from four to six in- ches apart, and three inches deep, covering with fine pul- verized soil.
