The North Side of FURNESS ABBEY Le Cote du Nord de LABBAYE de FURNESS Exhibits a mixed style of church-architecture, which was used in England at an early period. The foundation of this religious houfe was laid whilft the Norman tafte in building prevailed ; and as it was carrying on (probably under the direction of different architects) the manner of its original defign appears to have gradually deviated into that, which is distinguished by the appellation of Gothic.
