The bad condition of water-closets is not due to bad constructionalone. Much of it can be laid at the door of the school janitor, and nota little belongs to the teacher. The janitor is often a janitress—a girlor a woman. They always feel that the full round of duty is ful-filled when the floor is swept and the desks dusted and the teachers areoften too modest to mention the closets.
