In creating this public space for 200 people, theproblem of exits arose and we added an exterior5-0 wide stairway designed for the usual 100pound per square foot load with access to thestair from glass doors equipped with panic bolts.The stairs terminated at the 16th floor roof of thehotel, re-entering a stair tower. This amplified the two existing interior stairs and provided a total of11 -6 wide exits which will satisfy all newly pro-posed hotel exit provisions now being consideredby local and state departments having jurisdiction.Once these structural difficulties were overcome,the decorative problems began. The ceiling heightwas limited and with a particularly low ceilingover the bar, it was deemed necessary to let thebar provide and reflect light on the ceiling.
