English: U.S. Marine Corps Chief Warrant Officer 4 Michael Franks (left), a native of Sierra Vista, Az., and 1992 graduate of Bueno High School, recently received the Meritorious Service Medal June 16 at the Defense Distribution Center Susquehanna, New Cumberland, Pa. Franks currently serves as the 4th Marine Corps District’s Personnel Officer at the Defense Distribution Center Susquehanna in New Cumberland, Pa. As Personnel Officer, he is responsible for supervision separations, permanent Change of Station and assignment orders. Franks enlisted in the Marine Corps on December 14, 1992, and commissioned as a chief warrant officer in 2005. Franks has been stationed at 1st Surveillance Reconnaissance and Intelligence Group Camp Pendleton, CA., 3rd Marine Air Wing Tustin, CA., Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, Marine Forces Pacific, Camp Smith, Hawaii, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA., 1st Marine Division Camp Pendleton, CA, Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA., Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., and Fort Meade, Md. Franks deployed to Kuwait in 1998 and Iraq in 2007. His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, five Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Navy Unit Commendation, three Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation ribbons, four Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, two Iraq Campaign Medals, the Global War On Terrorism Service Medal and the Korean Defense Service Medal. |
