Title
awl
Description
English: A thin, hard hammer struck, curved flake of dark brown nodular flint with cream flecks. On the dorsal surface are the stepped flakelet scars from the platform preparation. The margins naturally converge to the distal end but this has been emphasised with notches and semi-abrupt retouch,;worked on the ventral side as well at the tip. This tool appears to have worked as a piercer or awl. Butler(2005) illustrates a piercer on page 129, fig 52, 1.
